Get it done LA

Here is an email i sent to the Get it done LA (getitdonela.org), I really care when i see something that can help out people in my area recover from Katrina and try to get a hold of and take responsibilty for government, but when i went to the web site i was shocked, so shocked that I did something I have never doen before...I wrote them an email to try to explain to them the failures of the site and how to fix them:

With all due respect to Walter Boasso and the obviously talented designers of this web site, Being a web designer/developer myself, I must say that having an all flash web site without a html text accompaniment is not a good idea. First of all the non technically savvy people will not understand why they cannot use the back button of their browser, or why after they click on an outbound link and then come back to the site it restarts from the begriming. You cannot use the middle scroll option of the mouse unless you click outside the content area. Meaning that a use will have to figure that out of grab the scroll bar to the right. The right click to open in new window doesn't work so again usability is shot.

Submitting the 'Join the Get It Done Louisiana team' form blank, still submits and tells me thank you for submitting a blank form, If i have a hard time reading I can't enlarge the text of the site. If for some reason flash fails in my browser I cannot use the site. I cannot select any of the text because its embedded in flash. I cannot 'see' where the links are taking me because there are not title tags that let me know whether I'm going to a pdf or not.

  • Every design process varies greatly, however they all share some common ground. A good design process should start by learning about the project and defining its goals. But why create a process, what are the benefits?
  • In The Mod is dedicated to understanding the color palettes and hidden relationships of (in)famous paintings by using new features in Flash 8 as well as a custom library of Color Analytics. After reducing the color palettes from hundreds of thounsands of colors down to several hundred, the data is visualized in a 2d color space and the palettes are downloadable for you in formats compatible with Flash, Processing and After Effects.
